Can't get out of nav mode completely

I'm working on a L4d map and i was sorting out the nav paths and all that stuff and I don't know what I did but now I can't play my map propperly: if I press page-down I get the nav mode and if I press it again, all the nav paths dissappear but if I then click my mouse to fire at zombies, it makes the sound for when you click it in nav mode and doesn't fire. same for some of the other buttons. So how do I get out of nav mode completely?

oh yes: when I press page-down to exit nav mode, I get a message come up in the corner saying sb_perf_collect unknown command (or something like that). not sure what that's supposed to mean.

don't worry about it - I went into options for the keyboard and reset the default settings. that sorted it out.
