DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ:ERTS), today announced Battlefield: Bad Company 2™, the sequel to last year’s blockbuster title. In this installment, the Bad Company crew again find themselves in the heart of the action, where they must use every weapon and vehicle at their disposal to survive. The action unfolds with unprecedented intensity, introducing a level of fervor to vehicular warfare never before experienced in a modern warfare action game. To get ready for the assault this winter, players can prepare for action in Battlefield 1943™, an all-new multiplayer game available this summer via PlayStation®Store, Xbox LIVE™ Marketplace and on the PC.

In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the ‘B’ company fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. With a heavy arsenal of deadly weapons and a slew of vehicles to aid them, the crew set off on their mission and they are ready to blow up, shoot down, blast through, wipe out and utterly destroy anything that gets in their way. Total destruction is the name of the game, delivered as only the DICE next generation Frostbite™ engine can. Either online or offline, enemies will soon learn there is nowhere to hide. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available for the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the PC.

Using the same Frostbite™ engine, Battlefield 1943 takes players back to WWII. The game offers endless hours of 24 player multiplayer action over three classic and tropic locations; Wake Island, Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. Delivering the award-winning through-the-gun and vehicle warfare online experience DICE is best recognized for, Battlefield 1943 will have players battling in ruthless aerial dog fights and intense trench combat. Players can see the game in action at New York Comic Con (Booth #1441) from February 6th-8th.

“Bad Company 2 takes everything that players liked in the original and ups the ante – more vehicles, more destruction and more team play,” said Karl Magnus Troedsson, Executive Producer Battlefield Franchise, DICE. “Battlefield 1943 is a new take on a blast from the past classic coming to life with brand new technology that we’re eager to get into players hands.”

Default New Bad Company 2 Screenshots & Interview

The guys at 4Players.de posted up an interview from their visit to DICE, where they had a chance to interview Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Producer, Patrick Bach. Although many of questions could not be answered they did manage to get some new screenshots.

(Via Google Translate) 4Players: Bad Company was a pure console game. The second part is on the other hand, also for the PC. Where does this sense of change?

Patrick Bach: Because there are so many PC users there who are complaining we have not been able to play this title. We have the Bad Company-project than a mere console production is created because we felt that the PC community is not considered good enough for them would be, because PC owners are entitled to a certain degree of authenticity and realism, if it comes to weapons and equipment goes. When we published it, the PCler came to us and asked why we do not also for the PC have published. It is a good Battlefield titles, so why can we not play him? And we replied that we thought that they did not want to have. But Frostbite is also a PC Engine, so we have no major problems, the game on the PC to bring. And we do now in the second part too. FORTY-FIED MULTIPLAYER
EA hasn't yet made any announcements about the multiplayer side of the game. The only thing we know for certain is that 40 people will be able to duke it out on to servers when the sequel hits rather than Bad Company's previous player cap of 24. New game modes and plenty of maps a shoo-in however, that's what sequels are made for after all.

Quite whether the gang have spent the truckload of gold they purloined at the close of the last game is as yet unknown - but you can be sure that you're off to places more exotic than the original game's Serdaristan, and that the leader of the ruthlessly efficient Legionnaires (last seen standing unscathed next to his wrecked helicopter and looking a little miffed) will be making a violent return.

If that wasn't enough, EA has promised treks through the dense green vegetation and humid atmosphere of jungles, as well as battles along snowy mountain vistas (Skidoos? Please let there be skidoos...) for the sequel, as well as slightly more boring dusty villages and arid plains. In short - we're excited. Read the rest...

Battlefield: Bad Company marked the first entry in DICE's first-person shooter series to be designed solely for consoles. As part of that transition, the franchise's trademark 64-player online matches were scaled down to 24 in an effort to keep things running smoothly on trickier network configurations. Despite this, Bad Company's online multiplayer managed to preserve a lot of that chaos by way of newly destructible buildings and the remaining presence of vehicles.

Now, after going hands-on with Bad Company 2 at a press event held at EA's Los Angeles offices, we've got a good idea of what to expect out of the sequel's online offerings. While the max number of players remains the same, a host of enhancements should make the combat even more frenetic. Read the rest...

Staying Healthy on the Bad Company 2 Battlefield

Over on the Battlefield blog, Bad Company 2 Gameplay Designer, Alan "Demize99" Kertz posted a up a new article today explaining how the health system works in BC2.
A quick introduction is in order, since this is my first Battlefield Blog post. I’m Alan Kertz, though many of you already know me as Demize99. As Gameplay Designer on Bad Company 2 it’s my goal to give you insight into the design process on Bad Company 2 and give you the direct inside scoop on all the gameplay details.

So what are my Battlefield Credentials? I’ve competed in Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam clan matches alongside being a mapper and a modder. I joined DICE over 3 years ago and since the I’ve worked as a designer on Battlefield 2142 and the original Bad Company. And now it’s my privilege to be developing Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Let’s start off this series of gameplay blog post with some in depth detail on Bad Company 2’s teamplay based health systems.

When a soldier really needs to be restored to health fast he turns to his Medic teammates. The Medic is a special breed of soldier, able to fight just as hard as their brothers in arms, but also dedicated healers. They keep their teammates in the fight as long as possible and to bring them back into the fight when they're down. In Bad Company 2 the medic has two tools to use to keep his teammates healthy. Default Release Date for Bad Company 2 Announced

At Gamescom, EA DICE announced the release date for Battlefield: Bad Company 2. March 2nd, 2010 for North America, and March 5, 2010 in Europe.
DICE Delivers Best of Breed Multiplayer Action on March 2, 2010 With Battlefield: Bad Company 2
STOCKHOLM - (Business Wire) Get ready to storm the battlefield! DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced that Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 will be available March 2, 2010 in North America and March 5, 2010 in Europe. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will deliver a level of destruction, vehicular warfare, squad play and open world environments never before experienced in a modern warfare action game. By pushing destruction to new heights and delivering a host of land, sea and air vehicles, players will soon witness the best-in-class online warfare experience.

“The variety of weapons, choice of vehicles and scale of destruction in the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 sandbox environment generates countless unscripted and unforgettable moments,” said Karl Magnus Troedsson, Executive Producer Battlefield Franchise, DICE. “When Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ships in March, it will deliver the best online multiplayer experience ever.”

Whether online or in the single player campaign, players use every weapon and vehicle to survive and conquer. Players choose from 15 authentically modeled vehicles, each providing a tactical advantage and offering a variety of gameplay options. The new UH-60 transport helicopter can ship an entire four-player squad directly into battle, while allowing two additional team members to wreak havoc with its two mounted rail guns on board.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 players will have a selection of 46 weapons that they can customize into over 200 different, high-powered firearms. There are over 15,000 kit variations possible in the game, giving each squad member the ability to choose the weapon upgrades and combat enhancements that best fits their playing style. Between the weapons, kit combinations and deadly vehicles, players will be equipped with a wide range of gadgets, accessories and character specializations to give them the edge in the heat of battle.

The DICE signature Frostbite™ engine delivers Destruction 2.0, adding a new layer of strategy to the all-out warfare. New to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the micro-destruction mechanic that allows players to be more strategic on the battlefield by chipping cover away bit by bit or taking down an entire building and watching it collapse with enemies inside.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be available on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the PC. For more information on DICE, please visit DICE or EA Video Games - Electronic Arts. For more information on the Battlefield franchise please visit: Battlefield Blog.
