A few months ago I wrote about the big upcoming games in the last quarter of 2007. I totally missed one big upcoming game, Frontlines: Fuel of War, by THQ. This game will be a Battlefield 2 killer. The gameplay is based on capturing control points and moving the ‘frontline’ of the battle towards the enemy main base. Online multiplayer capabilities are extended and up to 32 players per server. There are vehicles you can drive and airplanes you can call in for additional air-cover. This game uses an ranking system. You choose player-class like Sniper or Assault but you also choose a secondary class, like air-specialist or drone-specialist. The more ingame experience, the better your secondary weapons will be. There is no fixed release date for Frontlines yet, but next to Quake Wars (September), Crysis (November) and Call of Duty 4 (November) this game will be one of the big hits of 2007/2008. |
