Default INFO Tropico 4.

Wow, that was quick. After the success they've had with Tropico 3, publisher Kalypso Media made an announcement that Tropico 4 is currently in development. Haemimont Games are, once again, brining the title to PC. What's different this time around is that the developers are also looking to bring the game to consoles - an announcement on that will be made soon. Word is that in Tropico 4, El Presidente returns to the island of Tropico, and this time, he’s bringing new enemies and allies along for the ride, as he fights to turn his little island into a superpower. New content and gameplay features will influence whether our fearless leader can create a feared superpower, or become nothing more than a small-time banana republic ruler. Here are the main features of Tropico 4:

• New campaign consisting of 20 missions on 10 new maps
• 20 new buildings including Stock Exchange, Shopping mall, Aqua Park and a Mausoleum to El Presidente
• Six new Interactive disasters including volcanoes, droughts and tornadoes
• Council of Ministers - appoint selected citizens to ministerial posts in the government to help push through your more controversial decisions
• National Agenda – receive objectives from Tropican factions, foreign geopolitical powers or opportunities relating to current island events such as ongoing disasters
• Facebook and Twitter integration – post live Tweets directly from the game or create posts automatically upon completion of missions, unlocking achievements, etc. Store and display achievements on a Tropico 4 Facebook page and see their how your Dictator rankings fare against other players (PC only feature)
• Screenshot gallery – take screenshots of your tropical paradise and share on your Facebook page (PC only feature)
• Trading system - import and export goods to/from other nations to boost your economy or production

Default Tropico 4 - In the U.K.

Kalypso Media UK announces that Tropico 4 is now available in the U.K., offering the latest installment in this city-building/simulation game that puts players in the fatigues of El Presidente of an island republic. The game will be released in North America on Tuesday, a playable demo is available, and here's word:

Quote:
Tropico 4 sees you return as El Presidente, the tyrannical (or benevolent) dictator of the island paradise of Tropico. The world is changing and Tropico is moving with the times – geographical powers rise and fall and the world market is dominated by new players with new demands and offers – and you, as El Presidente, face a whole new set of challenges. If you are to triumph over your naysayers you will need to gain as much support from your people as possible. Your decisions will shape the future of your nation, and more importantly, the size of your Swiss bank account.

Tropico 4 features all new missions across new maps and includes exciting and fun new features to keep the action fresh and challenging. You can even elect ministers into power to help get your more controversial decisions passed through the government. But remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer as everyone has an agenda!

Default Tropico 4 - Delayed for Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 version of Tropico 4 has been delayed. It had been pegged for release in mid-September, but will now launch on 18th October in the US. That's a Tuesday, so we will probably get it on Friday, 21st October. We're checking with the UK arm of publisher Kalypso Media now. The PC version is out. Eurogamer's Tropico 4 review returned a 7/10, Dan Whitehead wrote:

It's hard not to like Tropico 4, because it's based on a solid foundation that is naturally engaging. It was and remains an enjoyable if slight take on a dry genre. Its tragedy is that it hasn't bothered to build anything worthwhile on top of that foundation, preferring instead to coast on jaunty music that makes you feel like you're playing in Nando's and broad satire that fails to sustain the game beyond the first few days of play.

Default Tropico 4 - Expands in March.

Kalypso announces Tropico 4: Modern Times, an upcoming expansion for Tropico 4, the island dictator simulation. This is expected in March, and will add a number of modern problems to the game: "The times are changing and the island nation of Tropico is evolving. The Internet, a New World Order, terrorists, global financial markets and space exploration are on the rise and pose new challenges to El Presidente and his regime in Tropico 4: Modern Times." Here's a trailer, and here's a feature list:

• Make Tropico fit for the 21st century: Evolve the island from the Cold War era to modern times and even into the future
• 30 new buildings become available as time progresses, including condos, skyscrapers, organic ranches and biofarms. Replace obsolete buildings with these modern and inspiring designs.
• Upgrade old buildings to new variants – modernized apartment buildings, banks, museums and much more
• 10 new edicts allow even more control over your citizens’ lives. Block or limit citizens’ Internet use, create a police state or be a “good guy” and launch the Festival of Love edict.
• New single player campaign comprised of 12 comprehensive scenario missions. Protect Tropico from unseen and sinister forces.

Default Tropico 4: Quick-Dry Cement - Add-On Pack Released.

Kalypso Media has announced the Tropico 4: Quick-Dry Cement add-on pack is now available on the for Windows PC and Xbox 360.

Quote:
In the previously released “Plantador” add-on content for Tropico 4, El Presidente was on his way to becoming a master gardener, and now with today’s “Quick Dry Cement” add-on, he’s moved into building his own concrete jungle. The new content, available today for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC, adds the new Cement Factory building, along with additional character traits, costumes and more, all for a Swiss Bank Account-pleasing price of 400 Microsoft Points / $4.99 USD.

The Quick-dry Cement add-on pack contains:

• Building: Cement Factory (accelerates all constructions on the island)
• Character Trait: Constructor (free cement factory, construction workers gain skill faster)
• Character Outfit / Vanity Item: Engineer helmet (for male and female avatars)
• Mission theme: The largest city in the Caribbean - build a huge city across the whole island while fighting all kinds of disasters
• Decorations: Tropican flagpole, Small park, Flower bed 2, Flowering tree 2, Constructor statue

Default Tropico 4: Gold Edition - Trouble in Paradise Trailer.

When you witness the destruction of weather events in Tropico 4, the term "natural disaster" may be putting it a bit lightly.

Default Tropico 4 - DLC Released.

Kalypso Media now offers a new Megalopolis DLC pack for Tropico 4, adding a new campaign, new avatar clothing, and more to the island dictator sequel. This is not mentioned on the World of Tropico, but they say the DLC is now available for the Windows edition though the Kalypso Launcher and various digital distributors, and is expected for the Xbox 360 edition later this year. Here's word on the pack:

Quote:
Build the largest city in the Caribbean! It’s up to you to decide how to deal with the problems that come with a massive influx of immigrants looking to join your society. Manage issues like unemployment, over-population and food shortages. Make use of the Conventillo, a cheap new residential building that maximizes living space at a minimal cost. As El Presidente, try on a decidedly more old-fashioned suit and spice it up with a classic monocle and mayoral necklace. The new bureaucrat trait helps you build cheaper residential buildings and earn bigger profits with the “building permit” edict.

• New building: Conventillo : Cheap housing with plenty of room to spare, but degrades over time and has to be frequently repaired
• New trait: Bureaucrat: Build cheaper residential buildings while earning more profits from the new “building permit” edict
• New outfit: Mayor (male avatar), includes monocle, dress suit and special necklace
• New mission: Megalopolis

Default Tropico 4: Gold Edition Feature Video PEGI - Meet the Rogues.

This trailer introduces the rogue's gallery of NPCs in Tropico 4 Gold Edition, the recently released bundle of Tropico 4 and the Modern Times expansion for the construction/management game. Word is:

Quote:
The “Meet the Rogues” video features such offbeat characters as the ever-intellectual Miss Pineapple, the incredibly intolerable Sunny Flowers and the overbearing General Rodriguez. Each of these NPC’s will challenge your skills as a leader, tasking you with different missions to complete, while helping (or hindering) your island’s progress from backwater banana republic to global superpower. Download the new trailer now for a quick look at the humorous personalities that make Tropico 4 Gold Edition much more than a simple city-builder.
