Hi all,
I'm currently working on a (weapon) mod for CoD4. But for this mod I need at least one custom weapon model for now, and maybe more later. These models should be made using Maya autodesk 2008, but I don't wanna learn it myself as it takes too long and I can't find good (free) tutorials
That's why I need the help from a Maya modeler to make the custom weapon models for me
I don't wanna tell what kind of weapon models I need yet, I want to announce this mod as soon as I can import one weapon model ingame.
If you want to help me with this, please post it in this topic, send me a PM, send an email (yanto_maes[at]hotmail[dot]com) or add my xfire: yanto148

Also, if you do this your name will be mentioned in the readme file, and I wanna add a servermessage that says "Mod made by Dancing Lobster and ...", so you'll get enough credit for it

Hey allemaal,
Ik ben momenteel aan een (weapon) mod aan het werken voor CoD4, maar voor die mod heb ik minstens 1 custom weapon model nodig, en later waarschijnlijk meerdere. Die custom models moeten in Maya autodesk 2008 gemaakt worden, maar om dat zelf te leren duurt te lang en ik kan geen goeie (gratis) tutorials vinden
Daarom heb ik hulp nodig van iemand die goed met Maya kan werken, om de weapon models voor mij te maken
Wat voor weapon model je moet maken wil ik nog niet vertellen, ik wil deze mod pas aankondigen zodra ik het eerst model ingame kan gebruiken.
Als je mij hiermee wil helpen, post het dan in dit topic, stuur een PM of een email (yanto_maes[at]hotmail[dot]com) of voeg men xfire toe: yanto148

Als je me hierbij helpt, komt je naam uiteraard ook in de readme file te staan en deze mod gaat waarschijnlijk serverberichten bevatten waarin staat "Mod made by Dancing Lobster and ..."

Als ik de tijd had om een heel wapen te skinnen e.d. zou ik je wel helpen. Alleen modeling zou misschien nog net lukken, maar UVing/skinning heb ik helaas echt geen tijd voor

Nee dat doe je niet in Maya zelf.

Eerst maak je het model. Daarna moet je dat model UV mappen. Die UV map breng je naar photoshop en daar maak je je textures. Daarna laad je de textures terug in Maya en exporteer je het model.

En hoe zit het met 3D Studio Max?
Ik heb geen ervaring met maya maar even snel googlen bracht me het resultaat dat het dezelfde richting in neigt.
Het is van hetzelfde bedrijf afkomstig, en als ze het net zo doen als bij adobe, dan lijken de programmas kwa indeling veel op elkaar, wat het wel makkelijker maakt.
Met 3ds max heb ik wel wat ervaring en weet ik ook dat er gemakkelijker tutorials voor te vinden valt. Volgens de google resultaten is Maya wat moeilijker en wat uitgebreider.
En met 3ds max kun je even goed modelleren.
Kan iemand dus even uitgebreid toelichten wat de verschillen zijn tussen Maya en 3DS max en waarom 3ds max eventueel wel of niet zou kunnen?
Voor 3ds max heb ik iig al wel eens een paar tuturials gevolgt voor moddelering op de Q3 engine (met jedi knight toentertijd), waar CoD4 ook op draait.

Daarnaast even nog een vraagje, heb je de blauwprinten, of iig schematische aanzichttekeningen van de wapens? Dat kan het modelleren extreem helpen om het wapen zo realistisch mogelijk eruit te laten komen.

Probleem met 3ds max is, dat ik geen tutorials heb van hoe je die models in CoD4 kan importeren... Van Maya heb ik die wel, de mod tools bevatten bovendien plugins voor Maya en niet voor 3ds max (denk ik toch) . Ik weet niet of er veel verschil is tussen 3ds max en maya, maar ik denk wel dat je snel met maya overweg zult kunnen als je met 3ds max overweg kan?

Over de blauwprinten: nee die heb ik niet, wel een aantal goeie afbeeldingen

Maya's interface duurt een tijdje voordat je er doorheen geworsteld bent. Het verschil is dat mensen met 3d max vaak teveel op de tool in max zelf leunen. In maya ben je meer aangewezen op je eigen kennis over modeling.

Voordeel: je maakt minder fouten.

Nadeel: Maya is stukken moeilijker om in te modelen dan Max (totdat je het gewend bent, dan is Maya ideaal)

je kan ook op 3D Models, Plugins, Textures, and more at Turbo Squid kijken voor modellen.

daar staan gratis resources op voor maya, 3dmax etc.
