    No, because then you get the same logical impossibility as I mentioned earlier.

    If it is 3pm - i.e. before sunset, "the present day", you cannot talk about it in a past tense because you are still in it. It is still the present day.

    Once the sun has set, it is no longer "the present day", as it is no longer day. Then you cannot talk say "today" and mean "the previous day", if you think about a day as the period of time between sunrise and sunset.

    I think you would say:
    "I haven't eaten today."

    I didn't eat today sounds a bit... weird.

    Anyway, who gives a shit?
