    A blog post from Treyarch reveals plans to release mod and map tools in 2016 for the Windows edition of Call of Duty Black Ops III, their futuristic military shooter sequel. Word is they hope for an alpha release in March:

    Call of Duty: Black Ops - Treyarch Spells Out What Will Get You Banned.

    Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is out today in North America for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. As multiplayer is the biggest draw to any CoD game, Treyarch already has the banning rules nicely painted out. After they review any and all infractions, they will dole out the following punishments:

    • Temporary Suspensions – Can range from 48 hours to two weeks or longer, depending on the severity of the infraction. Permanent suspensions are lasting and final.
    • Minor Offense – One in which no quantifiable damage has been done to another user or the game community at large.
    • Extreme Offense – One in which a player has caused detriment to other users or has organized large groups of users to commit additional offenses.

    Treyarch closed their discussion with the following statement:

    In other words, don't let your friend use your account if they might be a dick. For the full list of what will get you banned, check them out after the break.

    Use of Unauthorized Third Party Software for Modding/Hacking
    Any user who utilizes unauthorized third party software to gain an unfair advantage, manipulate stats, and/or manipulate game data is subject to penalty. Unauthorized third party software includes, but is not limited to, aimbots, wallhacks, trainers, stats hacks, texture hacks, leaderboard hacks, injectors, or any other software used to deliberately modify game data on disk or in memory.

    • First offense – User will be permanently suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, emblems, and paintjobs reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
    • Console users who modify their hardware or profile data will also be reported to console manufacturers. PC users on Steam will be reported to the Steam enforcement team.
    Pirated Content
    Any user who illegally acquires Call of Duty: Black Ops III content is subject to penalty.

    • First offense – User will be permanently suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, emblems, and paintjobs reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
    • Console users in possession of illegally acquired content will also be reported to console manufacturers. PC users on Steam will be reported to the Steam enforcement team.
    Unsupported Peripheral Devices and Applications
    Any user who utilizes an unsupported external hardware device or application to interact with the game is subject to penalty. Unsupported peripheral devices and applications include, but are not limited to, modded controllers, IP flooders, and lag switches.

    • Minor offense – User will be temporarily suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats and emblems reset and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
    • Extreme or repeat offenses – User will be permanently suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats and emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
    Boosting
    Any user who colludes with another user to exploit the game for the purpose of gaining XP, prestige, game score, weapon level, or in-game unlock is subject to penalty.

    • First offense – User will be temporarily suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, emblems, and paintjobs reset, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
    • Extreme or multiple repeat offenses – User will be permanently suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, emblems, and paintjobs reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
    Glitching
    Any user who abuses an exploit in game code or other established rule of play is subject to penalty. An example includes, but is not limited to, using a hole in the map geo to intentionally go outside of the map boundary.

    • First offense – User will be temporarily suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, emblems, and paintjobs reset, will have online split-screen privileges revoked, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
    • Extreme or multiple repeat offenses – User will be permanently suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, emblems, and paintjobs reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
    Offensive Behavior
    Any user who is found to use aggressive, offensive, derogatory, or culturally charged language is subject to penalty. Cyber-bullying and other forms of harassment are considered extreme offenses and will result in the harshest penalty.

    • First offense – User will be temporarily suspended from playing the game online.
    • Second offense – User will be temporarily suspended from playing the game online and will have voice chat privileges in the game revoked.
    • Extreme or repeat offenses – User will be permanently suspended from playing the game online, will have their stats, emblems, and paintjobs reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.
    Offensive Emblems/Paintjobs
    Any user who creates an emblem or paintjob that is considered to be generally offensive is subject to penalty. Offensive content includes, but is not limited to, sexually gratuitous images, culturally offensive material, and/or foul language.Any user who creates an emblem or paintjob with personal and/or private information for either themselves or other persons is subject to penalty. Personal/Private information includes, but is not limited to, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, and full names.

    • Minor offense – User will be temporarily suspended from using the Emblem Editor and Paintshop. All emblems and paintjobs will be reset to default.
    • Extreme or repeat offenses – User will be permanently suspended from using the Emblem Editor and Paintshop. All emblems and paintjobs will be reset to default.
    Improperly Obtained Downloadable/Unlockable Content
    Users that are found to have inventories containing content obtained outside of normal gameplay are subject to penalty. Penalties will not be issued for content obtained by gifting, social means, customer service intervention, and/or promotional events.

    • First offense – Users will be temporarily suspended from using the inventory system, and a full inventory reset will be issued.
    • Extreme or repeat offenses – Users will be permanently suspended from using the inventory system and a full inventory reset issued.

    The undead are relentless in their thirst for human flesh, especially the ones in Treyarch’s Call of Duty games. As some of you may have already discovered, Black Ops 3’s Zombies can’t be contained to just one mode. Treyarch said in a note to fans, referring to a secret game mode that wasn’t previously advertised:

    A recent blog update from Activision reveals plans for The Awakening, the first DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. They don't offer a release date yet, but remind us this will start as a PlayStation 4 exclusive before heading to other platforms. Here's word:

    Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 - Microtransactions Coming.

    Activision has announced that it is bringing Call of Duty Points to Call of Duty: Black Ops III. This new optional virtual currency is purchased with real money, and allows players to secure additional Supply Drops in multiplayer or Vials of Liquid Divinium in Zombies Mode. The currency will only be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

    Black Ops III's Black Market has been updated with three new melee weapons, the Butterfly Knife, Wrench, and Brass Knuckles. There are also new taunts, body and head variants for each Specialist, Epic rarity camo, and calling cards. Activision says:

    For a limited time, while supplies last, simply playing the game on PS4, Xbox One, or PC will grant you a one-time gift of 200 Call of Duty Points.

    Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Awakening DLC Pack Preview Trailer.

    Awakening, the first DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, is coming in February. Awakening brings four new multiplayer maps in Gauntlet, Splash, Rise, and Skyjacked. It will also contain the first chapter of another Zombies story, called Der Eisendrache. Der Eisendrache is set during WW2 in a medieval Austrian castle and stars Richtofen, Nicolai, Takeo, and Dempsey. Watch the first gameplay footage in this new preview trailer:


    Awakening will not be released on PS3 or Xbox 360.

    Call of Duty: Black Ops III - Awakening DLC Pack: Splash Preview.

    The multiplayer map is set at a abandoned water theme park full of water-slides, a wrecked pirate ship, and its own river ride. The Awakening DLC Pack includes three other multiplayer maps: Skyjacked, Rise and Gauntlet. It also comes with Der Eisendrache, Treyarch’s new Zombies adventure that picks up where The Giant left off.


    Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – Awakening will be made available first on PlayStation 4 February 2. PC and Xbox players can pick it up one month later.
