Capcom Vancouver is working on a third major instalment of its Dead Rising series exclusively for Xbox. Dead Rising 3 features a open world crammed with Zombies with apparently no load times as data is pulled in from the cloud. As well as blanketing the world with hundreds of customisable weapons, players can also command vehicles (GTA style) and call in air strikes via SmartGlass. Players take control of new Nick Ramos in the crestfallen city of Los Perdidos, three days after a zombie outbreak.

Dead Rising 3 - Gets Xbox SmartGlass-only missions.

Dead Rising 3 will feature missions exclusive to Xbox One players who have a smartphone or tablet device running Xbox SmartGlass. The game's executive producer Josh Bridge has revealed that the Xbox Live companion app will link to the game to act as a phone, through which a character in the game will relay exclusive missions. Bridge explained to Siliconera:

During the campaign, he went on to explain:

This doesn't, however, mean you'll be unable to complete the main story without SmartGlass. Brigde assured:

Dead Rising 3 is available 'this holiday' exclusively for Xbox One.

Dead Rising 3 - Producer discusses Kinect, SmartGlass, the sledgesaw.

In the video posted below, Dead Rising 3 executive producer Josh Bridge explains the premise of the game, and give you a look at its star bashing zombies with a wrench. But that’s not all: the game contains a weapon called a sledgesaw which as you can probably discern for yourself is a sledgehammer-skillsaw combo. Bridge also touches upon Kinect and SmartGlass integration. Dead Rising 3 is an Xbox One exclusive from Capcom and is slated for release this year.

Dead Rising 3 - Sends players text messages, offers more freedom.

Dead Rising 3 will send players calls and text messages through SmartGlass, Capcom has revealed. Explaining the game's SmartGlass features to the LA Times, executive producer Josh Bridge also said that Dead Rising 3 comes out of the screen. Brigde explained:

Discussing the game's open world gameplay and the restrictions imposed by its predecessors, Bridge said that Dead Rising 3 would be much less regimented. He continued:

Dead Rising 3 will be available at launch with Xbox One.

Dead Rising 3 - Started on 360, pushed the hardware too far.

Dead Rising 3 first surfaced almost two years ago. So how did it end up an Xbox One title? According to Capcom Vancouver producer Mike Jones, talking to Siliconera, it was a matter of resources. Jones said:

Seems as if the Xbox One's PC-like architecture aided the transition and allowed Dead Rising 3 to be a much more expansive game than previous entries in the series. ones said of the relationship between Microsoft's tech team and Capcom Vancouver:

Dead Rising 3 will be available at launch with Xbox One.

Here's a Dead Rising 3 developer diary video which Capcom debuted at the San Diego Comic Con last week. It features produce Mike Jones and other members of the development team discussing the sheers scale of the game which, as previously reported, is said to be bigger than Dead Rising 1 and 2 combined.

Dead Rising 3 - Nightmare Mode adds classic time-sensitive events.

Dead Rising 3 doesn’t follow the painful time-sensitive system of the first two games, that demanded you be in certain places at set times, but Capcom Vancouver has revealed that you can turn schedules on in Nightmare Mode. Speaking with AusGamers, Dead Rising 3 producer Josh Bridge said of Nightmare Mode:

This will come as good news to those who like the time-pressures of the original Dead Rising games, and the confirmation of XP sharing across both modes on one profile means you wont start from scratch if you decide to dabble in Nightmare Mode. Bridge confirmed that you’ll meet survivors in Dead Rising 3 who will need rescuing, but added that players can also give them perks and issue commands using Kinect.

Dead Rising 3 - The Best Dead Rising 3 Trailer Ever.

A tough woman with a machine gun saves Our Hero's skin long enough for him to get his act together and shine when she runs out of ammo. Why did she even bother helping him when she knew she didn't have the ammo to sustain this rescue, that's what I want to know. Bad self-preservation skills. Plus, she's rather serendipitously there, but I guess these are not questions worth asking when you can MacGuyver circular saws on sticks. Also a prison inmate zombie starts shooting at not-Frank-West with a shotgun. He looks like he has too many muscles for guns -- why doesn't he let a more physically challenged zombie have it? Rude much.

Dead Rising 3 - Team aiming for 30 fps, Microsoft helping to improve performance.

Dead Rising 3 players on the show floor at gamescom have noticed a bit of stuttering gameplay when trying it out, but Capcom says to worry: all will be smooth sailing when the game is released. Speaking with Videogamer, the game’s producer told the site that the team is aiming for 30 frames per second and reiterated that Microsoft is helping out on the technical end of development. Jason Leigh said:

Dead Rising 3 has been named as an Xbox One launch title and is slated for November.

Dead Rising 3 - Exclusive Explosive Action Gameplay Demo.

Dead Rising 3 promises to be just as crazy, violent, and chaotic as other entries in the series. VG247′s found this out first-hand during gamescom when Capcom Vancouver producer Mike Jones walked him through a demo of the game. Along with detailing some of the SmartGlass featuring in the game, the new combo abilities were also on display.

As you will see, you can use these combos to create a personalized vehicle which can provide zombies with a painful death – if they can feel that is, we’re not sure if these mindless shells feel anything other than a hunger for your flesh. You can customize street sweepers, steam rollers, forklifts, motorcycles, cars, trucks – if it has wheels, you can turn it into a moving, squishing, shooting death machine.

Dead Rising 3 has been named as an Xbox One launch title and is slated for November.

Dead Rising 3 will launch alongside the Xbox One as a launch title sometime during November this year.

Dead Rising 3 - Has 6-10 endings, overtime mode.

Like previous games in the franchise, Dead Rising 3 will feature multiple endings and, once you beat the game, a mode without the story's time constraints, Capcom Vancouver producer Mike Jones confirmed to OXM. Thankfully, post E3 footage of Dead Rising 3 also looks considerably more like previous games in the franchise, rather than looking like the brown, "mature and sophisticated" Call of Duty-alike is was originally touted as. Dead Rising 3 - Co-op detailed, Second character and non-linear progression.

Detailed on Dead Rising 3's co-op mode have appeared online, revealing the second character accompanying protagonist Nick Ramos in zombie infested Los Perdidos. Dead Rising 3's co-op mode allows players to break the chronology of single-player. By joining a player further in the game, chapters can be completed before reaching them naturally in the game's campaign, effectively allowing a player to skip them when they return to their own solo campaign.

Second players will fill the boots of Dick, a truck driver that finds himself at the wrong diner on the wrong day. The character will be featured in the campaign mode, but Capcom hasn't indicated whether he will team-up with Nick outside of the co-op mode. According to Business Post, the two characters aren't tethered together in co-op. The post stated:

Capcom Vancouver has also unveiled a Psycho from the game. These mentally-unstable, ultra-powerful survivors serve as boss characters. Dead Rising 3's Psychos are themed on the seven deadly sins. Pictured is Greed, one of the darker psychos. Senior producer Jason Leigh told the site:

Dead Rising 3 - To be truly open-world.

Dead Rising 3 is a truly open-world game with no loading screens, boasting a world map larger than those from Dead Rising 1 and 2 combined. That's according to Capcom executive producer Josh Bridge, who has described some of the technical challenges facing the studio during the development of the ambitious zombie title. Bridge told the Financial Post:

Technical art director Liam Gilbride also revealed the studio is working closely with Microsoft to iron out some of the technical issues apparent in early demo builds, particularly the low framerate seen at E3. He said it took the studio six months to make world traversal seamless. He said:

Dead Rising 3 will launch alongside Xbox One on November 22.

Dead Rising 3 - Producer addresses frame rate criticism.

Dead Rising 3 has been making some positive strides ever since the bad press of the "Call of Duty-fication" of the series, but not everything is positive, according to the game's producer. Apparently, previews have been hitting the game pretty hard for a lowered frame rate, which will be fixed in the final version according to Capcom. Speaking to Capsule Computers, Capcom Vancouver’s Mike Jones notes:

He says that frame rate optimization is, the last thing you do, and that earlier builds don't feature said optimization.

Dead Rising 3 - To feature procedurally generated zombies; handcrafted world.

Dead Rising 3 will boast procedurally generated zombies, meaning that no two zombies will ever look the same. At a recent Xbox One event in Sydney, Capcom producer Mike Jones told CVG that next-gen technology has allowed the studio to achieve much that the Xbox 360 wasn't capable of. For example, while texture reuse in previous Dead Rising games was common, the open world in Dead Rising 3 is completely handcrafted. Jones explained:

Jones agreed that consumer demand for more detail in next-gen titles has made creating open world games a more expensive pursuit. He said:

In order to achieve a more lifelike world, Capcom has also introduced procedurally generated zombies. He said:

Capcom initially planned to release Dead Rising 3 for current-gen consoles, but soon discovered that much of what it hoped to achieve was impossible with the aging hardware. The team wanted to create a seamless open world without loading screens and hordes of zombies onscreen at the same time. Jones described a consultative approach between Microsoft and Capcom. He explained:

Dead Rising 3 is among over 20 launch titles for the Xbox One. The system releases November 22.

Dead Rising 3 - Dev promises open-world Uncharted visuals.

Dead Rising 3 will provide a visual fidelity on par with the Uncharted series without taking players down a linear path, an executive producer at Capcom Vancouver has claimed. The Uncharted games, developed by Last of Us creator Naughty Dog, have won numerous awards for their graphical ambition and detail. Yet this visual fidelity is made possible by cramming details into enclosed spaces that the player cannot escape from. But Dead Rising 3 will achieve the same visual feats whilst providing an open-world experience, according to the development team currently promoting it. Executive producer Jason Leigh told OXM:

Capcom Vancouver recently told CVG that Dead Rising 3 will boast procedurally generated zombies, meaning that no two zombies will ever look the same. Fellow producer Mike Jones said extensive work has gone into creating a richer, more varied open world. Jones said:
