[ut3mods] Custom Weapon Tutorial Resources....

  1. Hello Everyone The ONLY resource I found for weapons customiztion was this Tutorial:

    The Problem we are having is on page 3 of the Tutorial:

    "....Ok before we start I an Not A Coder, i copy/paste and change names then compile and see if it works. ...."

    How can we compile script without a Dev Environment (like the old ude.exe for 2004).
    Or does he mean BUILD in the actual Unreal Ed?

    The team I am working with is still confused how people have gotten as far they have with online resources that are out there (forums, available tut's, etc) without having previously modifed the 3 other unreal versions.

    Regardless it is still behooving to find resources on this specific topic. If anyone has any other references for this Topic would be great. Is there other tools that will help us other than our 3d packages, that are made for UnrealEd?

    Also, can I go through the archives of this listproc to see previous questions that have answered?

    You can use the following command to compile UnrealScript source:

    UTGame make

    See the Mod Authoring page on UDN for more information:

  4. I suggest reading the rest of the tutorial, because it does cover how the
    code is compiled (prompted to compile when running UT3Editor, see page 4).
    The actual editing is just done with text files.

    The UDN (http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/UT3ModHome.html) covers the basics
    of mod set up and compilation. And we have the entire script body used in
    UT3 as examples. That is quite a bit from the get go - at least for
    programmers. As for Dev Environments, you can't code in the UT3 Editor
    anyhow, UDE has been partially updated for UT3 (but is a little broken and
    tricky to set up), and there are couple of other Dev Environments solutions
    around.

    "Coming Soon", which quite likely means "Never" at this stage.

    ok if you go and have a look at this thread http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=595944 you'll find a list of video tutorials i've done includeing a fully set on getting a custom weapon in-game, also have a look at the videos on setting up a mod project, mod projects include anything from a single weapon/vehicle/character to a full blown total conversion

    if you still have problems then just shout
