Fallout 4 - Location Confirmed as Boston.

Images from this morning's Fallout 4 trailer confirm the game's setting as Boston, Massachusetts. The trailer provides glimpses of several of the city's most recognizable locations. Iconic locales include the Massachusetts State House and establishing shots of the Paul Revere statue in a thunderstorm.

Also appearing is a modified version of the USS Constitution. Old Ironsides appears to have been retrofitted as an airship. Also depicted is a ruined version of the Bunker Hill Monument commemorating the famous Revolutionary War battle.

    Fallout 4 - 9 Screenshots.

After yesterday's announcement Fallout is already back with a few images that you will find inside. There are some rumors claiming that Bethesda's new RPG might be released later this year, but we'll have to wait until E3 to know if it's true.

Fallout 4 - Not coming to PS3 or Xbox 360.

Matt Grandstaff, Bethesda's community lead has confirmed on NeoGAF that Fallout 4 will not be coming to last generation consoles. It had been a topic of contention since the game was revealed, but now the rumors can officially be put to bed:

Fallout 4 - On Xbox One will support PC-made mods.

Ever since Morrowind on the original Xbox, Bethesda's Todd Howard has wanted console gamers to have a comparable experience with PC gamers. One thing has stood in the way of that for The Elder Scrolls and Fallout: mods. Beginning with Fallout 4, mods will no longer be a platform discrepancy. At Microsoft's E3 press conference, Howard announced:

Unless Sony follows suit with this, it definitely looks like Xbox is the way to go among the consoles. Another tidbit mentioned during the presentation was that Fallout 3 would be included with purchases of Fallout 4. For someone like me who hasn't yet dove into the series, this is looking more and more like a good starting point. The announcement was made for Xbox One, pairing with the backward compatibility announcement. We have reached out to Bethesda to see if the offer applies to PlayStation 4 as well.

Fallout 4 - Features Scrapping, Building, Crafting, Customization.

Another big Fallout 4 feature announced at Bethesda's E3 2015 press conference this evening: The ability to craft your very own base of operations, or just about anything else you would like to, including power networks, houses, settlements, turrets, and various types of shelter.

You can scrap all kinds of materials you find in the world to create powerful structures that can be used to protect you from raiders. These areas are optional, but for players who want to get into them it provides an interesting outlet for creativity and additional goodies. These scrap components can also be used to build all kinds of other useful items, like scopes. Fallout 4 features over 50 base weapons and 700 modifications to those weapons, so there's a lot going on here with crafting and customization.

    Fallout 4 - Collector’s Edition includes real Pip-Boy.

The wrist-mounted Pip-Boy is an indispensable tool for any vault dweller, and now Bethesda is putting its power in players’ hands in a whole new way.

We first saw this idea with the Amazon-exclusive Survival Edition of Fallout 3, which offered a wearable plastic Pip-Boy with a built-in digital alarm clock, but Bethesda has kicked the concept up a notch for Fallout 4, offering collectors a chance to snag a Pip-Boy that does so much more than sit on your bedside table looking pretty. With a smartphone dock and companion app that’s coming to both Android and iOS devices, the Pip-Boy can be paired with your game to create a stylish second screen that lets you access the game’s menus without interrupting the flow of play.

The Pip-Boy edition is priced at $119.99, and a PC version is confirmed. Here’s a glimpse at some of the other nice touches coming to the Pip-Boy this time round, including Fallout-themed takes on arcade classics like Donkey Kong and Missile Command.

Fallout 4 - Will have mod support on PS4 too.

Earlier today, during the Microsoft E3 conference, Todd Howard announced that PC Mods for Fallout 4 would be able to be applied to the Xbox One version of the game. What he conveniently left out while on stage with Microsoft is that the PS4 version ofFallout 4 will also support mods.

Announced during a Youtube livestream at E3, Howard announced that mods would be supported shortly after launch on PC, then on Xbox One, followed by PS4 last.

Fallout 4 - Fan attempts to pre-order with bottle caps.

Someone has attempted to pre-order Fallout 4 by sending developer Bethesda over 2000 actual bottle caps, the series' in-game currency. Superfan Seth, aka GatorMacheteJr said on Imgur:

The tl;dr version is that he spent 7.5 years saving up what amounted to an estimated 2240 bottle caps. He added:

    [IMG] [IMG]

We've sent Bethesda a request for comment on this and will update should the developer say yay or nay to Seth's unusual pre-order request.

Fallout 4 - Companions Are Immortal.

Remember the adorable German Shepard companion seen in virtually all of the demos and videos released for Fallout 4? Good news: no matter what transpires out there in the wasteland, he cannot die.

In fact, none of the companions that may accompany you on your quest across post-apocalyptic Boston can die. Speaking with IGN, Bethesda's Todd Howard discussed the now-immortal companions, a decision the development team made to better serve the player. Howard said:

Additionally, Howard explained that having companions along for the ride in Fallout 4 was entirely up to the player, because the team wanted to retain the same sense of choice featured in previous Bethesda open-world RPGs. He explained:

He wasn't ready to comment on whether or not companions could level up alongside the player, but did mention that the development team at Bethesda Game Studios was being a bit more specific about their role.

Fallout 4 will release on November 10 for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Fallout 4 - Bethesda's Todd Howard Talks About Mod Support.

Fallout 4 mod support will work similarly to what's possible in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, according to game director Todd Howard. Speaking with IGN, Howard said Bethesda is planning for Fallout 4 to feature the same level of mod support as Skyrim:

As for how mods will work with Fallout 4, Howard explained that players will actually create another version of your save game. From there, you choose from the menu to play a modded game, so that way nothing terrible can happen to your main save if things break.

And don't expect heavier curation from Bethesda with Fallout 4 mods on consoles, according to Howard. At least, that's not the plan, he said. When asked if Bethesda will approve modes before being posted through Bethesda.net, Howard said:

Basically, Howard explained that Bethesda wants to police mods as little as possible. The only things the publisher wants to take down are illegal stuff, according to the game director. Howard said:

Fallout 4 mod support is planned to launch early next year for PC, according to Howard. Then, they'll become transferrable to Xbox One, and after that, hopefully to PlayStation 4 as well.

Fallout 4 arrives on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 10.

Fallout 4 - Is so big its lead producer hasn't seen everything it has to offer.

Bethesda's RPGs are notoriously sprawling affairs, but Fallout 4 looks set to be bigger than any other game in the series. According to the game's lead producer Jeff Gardiner, speaking at an E3 roundtable interview attended by GamesRadar, he's still finding new things in the Boston wastelands. Gardiner said:

Game director Todd Howard chimed in on the same topic:

In addition to wandering aimlessly through the post-apocalyptic wasteland between missions, you'll also be able to build houses in Fallout 4. They won't serve any purpose to the main campaign, but doing the most important thing is never one's main priority in a Fallout game.

Fallout 4 - Graphics won’t be as depressing as Fallout 3 says Director Todd Howard.

Looking back at Fallout 3, Game Director Todd Howard says Fallout 4′s graphics won’t be as depressing. In a panel presentation at E3, GameSpot reported that Howard talked about the importance of graphics and memory when it comes to immersion. He said:

When asked about the stark difference between Fallout 3′s drab wasteland and the more vibrant environment seemingly present in Fallout 4, he said:

Fallout 4 is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 10.

Fallout 4 - Bethesda says there are currently no plans for paid mods.

Bethesda was the first—and, as it turned out, the only—developer to take part in Valve's blink-and-you-missed-it experiment with paid mods on Steam. Given how it defended the practice, it's not unreasonable to expect it'll be at the head of the line again, if and when Valve ever decides to give it another shot, and that the next opportunity could well come in the form of Fallout 4. But for now, that's not in the cards. Game Director Todd Howard told German site Spiegel Online:

    Fallout 4 - Will run at 1080p and 30 frames-per-second on everything.

Fallout 4 will run at 1080p and 30 frames-per-second on everything, it has been revealed. Fallout 4 director Todd Howard confirmed the news to Digital Spy at this year's E3 gaming expo. He said, before confirming that it would run at 30fps and not 60fps:

Fallout 4, which is set in post-apocalyptic Boston, is the first new entry in the role-playing series since 2010's New Vegas. Players will be able to build structures and defences within the game world, while mod support has been confirmed for PC, followed by Xbox One. When we asked if the studio was hoping to eventually bring mod support to PS4, Howard said:

The game will be released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 10.

Fallout 4 - Unfettered on PCs.

Bethesda Softworks tweets a clarification that the PC edition of Fallout 4 will not suffer the performance limitations of the console versions. This should go without saying, but a post on Digital Spy about how the action/RPG sequel will run at 30 FPS at 1080p on everything made it sound like the game would be super-gimped running under Windows. Of course this isn't the case, as Bethesda clarifies:

Fallout 4 - Player freedom inspired by GTA 5.

Todd Howard, director of Fallout 4, wants to create player freedom in his game on a par with Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 5. Speaking to Gamespot about influences, he said GTA 5 has been one of the most successful games at creating a sense of scale and saying yes to the player. He said:

Fallout 4 was revealed at E3 last week and will be released this November.

Fallout 4 - Protagonists voice actors announced.

If you have been wondering who will be providing the voices for the fully voiced male and female protagonists of Fallout 4, wonder no more! Lead Designer and Writer on Fallout 4 Emil Pagliarulo recently dropped their names and a picture of himself with the two voice actors on Twitter:

The male protagonist will be voiced by Brian T. Delaney, a voice actor and actor with a ton of experience in games from Halo 4 to World of Warcraft. The female protagonist will be voiced by Courtenay Taylor, another prolific voice actor, who you probably best know as Jack from Mass Effect, or Asheara from Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls.

Fallout 4 - Bethesda Considered Adding Multiplayer.

Bethesda thought about adding multiplayer to Fallout 4, as it is a big, big place, but they've since decided against it. Todd Howard discussed how the dev team did design a mode for multiplayer functionality, but each time they implemented it, they removed it for the same reason: they felt it was a distraction from the overall single-player vision that they wanted to focus on and therefore want players to focu on. Howard told Mashable:

With as big as the game seems to be, adding in multiplayer could definitely detract from the target experience Bethesda seems to want. But hey, you get an AI dog! And it's an AI dog that can't die in the game!
