Discussion in 'Unreal Tournament 3 newsletter' started by Steve Polge, Feb 10, 2010.

What is the largest number of players you've hosted on one server instance?

What was the largest number you ever hosted for past Unreal Tournament versions (original, UT2003, or UT2004)?

    Thanks...Steve

  2. The most I think we was during ut2003 launch and it was a 64 slot if I
remember correctly but if had to put an average highisest about, it would be
about 48 across more the versions. The average over all is about 24 slots.

Let me know if you need anything else.

As far as Death Match and running quite a few mutators 12-16 seems to work the best for us. Anything higher than that it gets laggy. I Admin Seven UT Servers right now (UT99, UT2004 and UT3) all set to 12 players for DM and they perform quite well.

problems like players skipping around quite dramatically.

    Steve,

    Titan's run UT2004 32 players + 2 specs, and since 2006 run all its
    ut2004 servers on ut2004 version 3373.

Would you have any problem in us letting other server admins have patch
3373? The only issue I know with it is playing back serverside demos -
they don't always work on a 3369 client.

The reason I ask in the context of max player numbers is that it has the
benefit of using a little less CPU than 3369 as well as the exploit fixes.

    Thanks

    Piglet

Ahh, I've figured out my plight.. For a week I've been trying to post to the thread, lol.. Seems the old way of posting here no longer works.. I used to be able to click 'reply' and it would go to the list, now, it seems it gets sent directly to the person on the list you are replying to (IE by default if I clicked reply to THIS post, it would get sent to me, not the list). So now I have to edit the To address with UT3SERVERS (AT) epicgames.com each time? Is that (somewhat) new, is that the way it is for everyone else now? Wasn't that way for me in the past.. Anywho, least I figured it out!

UT2k4 ran a 64 man server (still throw up a 20 man from time to time), UT3
20man.. Not that I don't like UT3, got my likes and dislikes, same as the
rest.. Biggest reason is since my 2k3/2k4 days, I've moved on in clans..
Clan now is more multi-game, not just a UT clan..

If your mail program supports a Reply To List function (latest
Thunderbird does by default) then you can click the Reply To List button
and messages get sent '/only/ to the list address.

You should only need to hit reply now. This will only work on new emails to the list.

Thanks for letting us know about this.

So now I have to edit the To address with UT3SERVERS (AT) epicgames.com<mailto:UT3SERVERS (AT) epicgames.com> each time? Is that (somewhat) new, is that the way it is for everyone else now?
